APPETIZER

 

CROQUE MONSIEUR

 

Ingredients :

  • 2 tablespoons spreading butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of SALUD milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slices firm white bread
  • 4 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 4 cooked chicken breasts
  • 1/3 pound sliced gruyere cheese
  • 1 cup shredded gruyere cheese

Instructions:

  • Melt butter in a frying pan, add all-purpose flour and stir constantly until the flour is cooked without browning.
  • Add hot SALUD milk slowly while stirring to avoid lumps.
  • Remove from the heat when the sauce thickens then add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cover with plastic wrap directly over the sauce to avoid formation of skin.
  • Place another frying pan over medium heat. Spread each bread slice with Dijon mustard.
  • Place the chicken strips and cheese on top of 4 bread slices, and cover with the 4 remaining slices.
  • Spread both sides of the sandwiches with butter and fry on the pan until golden brown.
  • Serve in a platter and spoon cheese sauce equally over sandwiches; sprinkle tops with Gruyere cheese.
  • Place the platter in the oven to cook the cheese au gratin.
  • Serve right away.

 
 
 

MAIN DISHES

PASTA CARBONARA

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 chopped garlic cloves
  • 5 slices of bacon
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cups grated SALUD processed cheese
  • Fresh parsley
  • 4 fresh pasta servings
  • Milled black pepper

Instructions:

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan, over medium heat.
  • Add garlic and cut bacon, then cook for 3 minutes over low heat.
  • Drizzle with wine and cook for further 2 or 3 minutes.
  • Remove pan from heat and put to one side.
  • Beat eggs in a bowl, season with pepper, and add the Parmesan and SALUD processed cheeses.
  • Pour hot, strained pasta and stir briskly.
  • Add the garlic and bacon mix, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  • Serve right away.

 
 
 
DESSERTS

STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE


Ingredients for the crust:

  • 3 cups ladyfinger
  • Half a cup of sugar
  • ¼ pound of butter

Instructions for the crust:

  • Crush the ladyfingers in the food processor or blender. Pass them on to a medium bowl and add melted butter and sugar; mix well.
  • Grease the molds and press the mixture onto the bottom and edges until completely covered. Place in the freezer until time to use them.

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 2 packages of 8 ounces SALUD cream cheese
  • 6 eggs at room temperature
  • one cup of sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions for the filling:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°.
  • In the blender, mix SALUD cream cheese, eggs, sugar and salt until soft and the mixture has no lumps, add vanilla last.
  • Pour into the molds and bake for 60 minutes or until the surface is golden brown and the center is almost set.
  • Let it sit for 30 minutes and then place in the refrigerator.
  • Remove the mold and serve it with a little of very cold strawberry marmalade.
  • Cheesecakes taste better a day after baked.

 
 
 
BEVERAGES
ORANGE AND CARROT BEVERAGE

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of PREMIUM Salud orange juice
  • 1 cup of carrot juice
  • ¾ cup of simple syrup
  • Carrot ice

Instructions:

  • Mix juices in a large pitcher with the syrup. Serve with carrot ice.
  • To prepare carrot ice: pour sweetened carrot juice in the ice trays.
  • Place in the refrigerator and then add them to the juice
